Planet Nerd is about to blow this sh*t sky-high

Hey all,

My infrequent posting has been due to a time-consuming new project. Yea, indeed it is the Sarlacc of projects.

I speak of none other than Planet Nerd.

For those who haven’t yet come up to speed:

It’s a variety show for Nerds
It’s broadcast on Melbourne’s Channel 31
It ranks much better than John Howard on YouTube (not exactly an achievement, but I’ll take my kudos where I can get it)

I get excited every time someone writes about me.

I met Sarah Jansen at the downstairs bar during Brisbane Improv Festival. She was quite lovely and, it turns out, an arts writer. And she wrote about me. Thanks Sarah!

I’m not sure why, but It’s the creepiest thing ever.

Kyle Purdy is a nerd among nerds. In the best possible way. I filmed an interview with him for Planet Nerd as he was about to make his way in to the keynote address as a VIP guest of Steve Jobs.

So, I’m the #1 viewed comedian on YouTube today (well, technically, Planet Nerd is). Which sketch was it, do you think? The hilarious iPhone sketch? Karin Muiznieks’ touching song that just does add up?

Nope. It’s a video of John Carmack talking about the next-generation ID graphics engine.

38,000 views and counting. Go Carmack! That guy is the biggest nerd ever.

So, two nights ago I participated in the Manhattan Monologue Slam. It’s a competition for aspiring comics and actors to strut their stuff… for up to 30 seconds. That’s right. This is one gig that doesn’t drag.
